Workforce Development Committee Meeting

For Chamber Members - by invitation only.

 

The Workforce Development Committee is the backbone of member services offered by the chamber. Its goal is is to increase the quality and number of skilled workers available locally. So far, its efforts have earned Colquitt County the Certified WorkReady status with the State of Georgia.

Members of this strategic group seek to improve the workforce by supporting local education in hopes of increasing the number of high school graduates who have a marketable skill or who are prepared to go on to a university or a technical college and to provide quality professional development opportunities to chamber members.

Some of the programs this committee supports is Youth Apprenticeship, Sunbelt Career Initiative Partnership, Workforce Investment Act Board, Department of Labor, college preparatory programs, employment services, Communities In School and Family Connections.

This active group supports literacy efforts, the local Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership program and the Adult-Youth Leadership Program. It promotes the Speakers Resource Guide useful for public schools and area colleges, and it coordinates workforce seminars for members and supports the Entrepreneur Friendly Certification Program for the county.
